Let's discuss the benefits of CBD cream in this article.
BENEFITS OF CBD CREAM
CBD is the abbreviation for cannabidiol. It is a naturally occurring compound found in the hemp plant. CBD does not make you feel’’ high’’, unlike THC, also known as tetrahydrocannabinol. THC is commonly associated with marijuana. Also, CBD is legal under federal law in the U.S., provided that it contains less than 0.3% THC.
According to Maroon & Bost (2018), CBD has health and wellness benefits when ingested. Also, according to the same study, CBD may improve your well-being and increase physical comfort. As with any supplement or medication, it's advisable to seek medical advice before using CBD cream.
Although CBD is generally considered safe and effective, Machado & Helena. (2011) noted that CBD might have few adverse side effects. It may counteract specific prescription medicines. Therefore, your healthcare practitioner should advise you on using CBD cream, the right dosage, and other counteractive effects CBD cream may have with other prescribed medication.
Blake & Robson (2006) showed that topical CBD could help with inflammation caused by arthritis. Furthermore, Atalay & Gęgotek's (2021) showed that CBD might also help with inflammatory conditions on the skin's surface. Also, a study by Hatchett & Armstrong (2020)stated that CBD cream might be helpful with the inflammation of muscle tissue and aching joints. However, note that a medical practitioner should always examine extreme pain cases. As a result, CBD oil has tremendous benefits, especially when added to your favorite cream. Meaning knowledge of how to make one from the comfort of your home may be of great advantage to you. Here is a guide on the ingredients and basic steps of making your cream.
DIY/Basic Ingredients for Your CBD Cream.
Here is a comprehensive list of ingredients you can use in your CBD cream. These are all natural and easy to find effective components. Also, note that some ingredients, such as menthol, highly depend on the purpose of the cream. For instance, menthol is great for pain relief; aloe vera gel has anti-inflammatory properties that help with pain, swelling, skin healing, etc. You can also include essential oil of your choice, such as olive oil, hemp seed oil, etc.
CBD Oil or Tincture
CBD cream cannot be made without CBD, so ensure that you shop for a high-quality and potent CBD oil. Be certain that your CBD oil has been extracted from organically grown hemp that has not been contaminated with pollutants. Also, ensure it's been tested by a third party since the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not control CBD products. The lab test results help review the product. Additionally, CBD users are advised to choose full or broad-spectrum CBD oil since it contains all the beneficial compounds found in the hemp plant, which produce the entourage effect. Full-spectrum CBD oil contains only trace amounts of less than 0.3% THC, while broad-spectrum CBD is THC free.
Shea or Cocoa Butter
Shea butter is a fatty component extracted from tree nuts with emollient and anti-inflammatory benefits. It is a great ingredient in topical creams for acne and muscle soreness.
Coconut oil has been consistently used as a multipurpose household ingredient. In addition to its emollient qualities, which make it an excellent moisturizer, extra virgin coconut oil also possesses antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.
How To Make CBD Cream
2 teaspoons of CBD oil or tincture
½ cup of sheer butter or cocoa butter
½ cup of coconut oil
1/3 cup of aloe Vera gel
Measuring cups or spoons
Mixer or Blender
Container to store the cream
Place a heat-proof bowl on a double boiler filled with simmering water. Add Shea or cocoa butter and coconut oil to the bowl and gently melt while stirring continuously. Continue stirring until completely melted and mixed with no lumps. Subsequently, remove the oils from the heat and transfer them to a blender or mixing bowl. Allow the mixture to cool at least for one hour. Once the oils are cool, add the aloe vera gel, CBD oil, and a few drops of your chosen essential oil. Remember, you can always add more essential oils, depending on your scent preference. Vegetable glycerine prevents the final cream from hardening by adding moisture. Vitamin E oil can be added to the cream to extend its shelf life of the cream. Lastly, blend all the ingredients until you attain a whipped consistency.
Transfer the finished product to a container for refrigeration and preservation. The consistency of the CBD cream can be altered to the user's liking. For example, if the cream is too thick, add some more aloe vera gel while whipping the cream. If too thin, melt some more shea or cocoa butter and coconut oil, let it cool, and then blend it into the cream, a single portion at a time, until you have achieved your desired consistency.
There are several benefits of making your own CBD cream. It's often a cost-effective way to reap the benefits of CBD. Also, one can customize the cream by adding scents that they like, using preferred ingredients, and choosing a potency level that's right for the user. Note that you can adjust the potency of the cream by adding more or less CBD oil. Just ensure you blend the cream well every time you add another ingredient. To get the most out of your CBD cream, ensure it's well stored to extended shelf life and consider adding ingredients that enhance its effectiveness.
